Perhaps you’ve heard, in response to the recent spate of teen suicides within the LGBT community, adult members of the community – famous and non – have been reaching out via online videos, reassuring young adults that life does, in fact, get better. On Sunday, October 24th, Rocca will be hosting its very own It Gets Better event to benefit the Trevor Project, a LGBT suicide prevention organization. There’ll be hors d’oeuvres from chef Tiffani Faison and a cash bar, and the private dining room will be set up so anyone who’s moved to do so can record their own reassuring messages to LGBT youth (see some of the moving testimonials online). There’s a suggested $25 donation at the door and one hundred percent of the proceeds will be donated to The Trevor Project.
