Revel in some serious bivalve goodness with the Island Creek Oyster festival on Saturday, September 12th. This year’s festival, which runs from 3:00 to 11:00pm at Duxbury Beach, promises to be bigger, better and greener than ever before with as many as 40,000 locally produced oysters being shucked for your gastronomic entertainment. Eighteen of Boston’s brightest culinary stars will be making the trip to serve artfully plated small bites made from local ingredients. Look for Jody Adams, Jasper White, Chris Parsons, Jamie Bissonnette, Jay Murray, Jeremy Sewall, Kevin Long, Louis DiBaccari, Mary Dumont, Tony Maws and Will Gilson. Harpoon will be pouring the beer and local bands will be providing the tunes. There’ll even be a kids’ tent open from 3:00 to 6:00pm to keep the kiddies from getting restless. Tickets to the event cost $50 for general admission ($150 for VIP treatment) with additional $5 tickets that can redeemed for one glass of wine, one beer or six oysters – proceeds benefit the Island Creek Oyster Foundation.
