On Sunday, September 14th, celebrate the bounty of locally farmed bivalves at the first annual Bay State Farmed Shellfish Shindig at the Boston Beer Company Brewery in Jamaica Plain. Growers from all over Massachusetts – from Duxbury Harbor to Katama Bay – will be shucking, sautéing, searing and selling their respective specialties (for a small fee) and talking a bit about the importance of maintaining sustainable harvesting practices. Chef Will Gilson of Garden at the Cellar will also be on hand serving up some tasty morsels from his summer menu. Tickets for the event, which runs from 12:00-5:00pm, cost $10 apiece (which includes two Sam Adams tastings). Reserve yours in advance online or by calling 508.934.9753. Since parking is limited at the Brewery, they recommend taking public transportation – click through and scroll down for directions.
