Explore Austrian Wines at Forage

Blaufränkisch, Grüner Veltliner und Zweigelt — oh my! The lovely grape varietals of Austria will be on the table this week at Forage’s weekly wine dinner on Tuesday, November 22nd. Wine guru Stan Hilbert has rounded up an awesome assortment of small-production wines from the influential alpine country with seven borders (including Switzerland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia and Italy). Chef Eric Cooper has come up with some superb plates to pair with this week’s selections like Rutabaga Steak with chive butter and braised shallot paired with 2021 “Puszta Libre!” Claus Preisinger; and Porchetta with potato salad, dandelion greens and plum sauce paired with 2020 “Waiting For Tom” Rennersistas.

You can choose either an omnivore or vegetarian menu for $95 to dine in at the cozy Cambridge bistro (reserve a spot here), or order your dinner to go here for two people for $160; both prices are before tax and tip. Hilbert will be on hand throughout the evening to talk you through your pairings, plus hopefully you’ll be pronouncing Niederösterreich before the night is over.
