Watermelon Three Ways

Edible Boston Website

Picture your favorite summer fruit. Chances are visions of watermelon danced in your head — and for good reason. It’s the most consumed type of melon in the United States and with a texture that’s reminiscent of a half melted popsicle, it’s no wonder it steals the spotlight during the warm weather months.

While you may most often just cut and serve, the folks from Edible Boston have some inspired suggestions (blend it up into a refreshing sipper, chop it into cubes to toss into a salad or even pickle the rinds) for taking your melon prep to the next level — they’ll even show you how. Join the team during the month of August for a series of drop-in classes at various Brothers Marketplace locations to see how the experts put this seasonal treat to good use.

At every session, you can learn how to make three different watermelon dishes and sample a bit of each: Salt and Pepper Watermelon Agua Fresca (a super easy blended beverage); Bread and Butter Watermelon Rind Pickles (the perfect way to minimize waste); and Watermelon and Jicama with Lime, Sumac and Mint (a delicious & unique salad). Peep the full details below, and plan to stop by for a bit to catch the demo(s).
