Learn How To Cook With Lamb

Edible Boston Website

If you think lamb is limited to the Easter table, then it’s time to expand your culinary mindset with a little help from the team at Edible Boston. Their latest feature shows just why it’s so awesome, and their three upcoming drop-in workshops — in partnership with Brothers Marketplace — will give you the chance to learn firsthand different ways to prepare lamb (locally sourced is best) for Sunday suppers, weeknight meals, summer BBQs and holidays (even beyond Easter!).

Lamb Meatballs – April 25th at Brothers Marketplace Waltham

Fans of Mediterranean cuisine can try bite-sized samples of lamb meatballs with a briny feta & yogurt dipping sauce inspired by this recipe on Thursday, April 25th at Brothers Marketplace Waltham (1 Moody Street), where Edible’s Rachel Caldwell will be answering all of the questions you have about buying and cooking lamb from 5:00 to 7:00pm.

Warm Lamb Salad – May 2nd at Brothers Marketplace Medfield

On Thursday, May 2nd, find Caldwell at Brothers Marketplace Medfield (446 Main Street) from 2:00 to 4:00pm — this time, she’ll be highlighting how you can minimize food waste and put your leftovers to use. Watch her take a roast leg of lamb and transform it into an elegant salad with fresh herbs and cucumbers.

Lamb Barbacoa Tacos – May 5th at Brothers Marketplace Weston

If weeknights are busy and you’re too tied up to swing by either of those sessions, mark your calendar for Sunday, May 5th. Sarah Blackburn, Editor and Recipe Developer for Edible Boston, will be at Brothers Marketplace Weston (41 Center Street) between 11:00am and 1:00pm to lead a demo on a central Mexican specialty, Barbacoa de Cordero. She’ll teach you how to chili-braise the meat using garlic and cumin and then stuff the finished product into corn tortillas for an easy, handheld meal. Samples will be plentiful, plus you can snag all of the ingredients in-store at Brothers Marketplace to re-create the recipe back at home just in time for your Cinco de Mayo fiesta.

All of the events will be drop-in style (and free!) — there’s no official class or need to sign up — so swing by for a few minutes as part of your grocery haul and leave with new recipe ideas and pro tips on preparing this underutilized protein.
