Outstanding in the Field Dinners

Outstanding in the Field

Explore the farms and fisheries of the Boston area first-hand with some of your favorite local chefs thanks to a curated collection of dining experiences with Outstanding in the Field (OitF). Founded in 1999 by Jim Denevan, OitF was created as a way to get eaters out of the dining room and into the places where food comes from – straight to the source, as it were.

The tour is hitting the Northeast this summer featuring appearances from Tiffani Faison (Sweet Cheeks), Will Gilson (Puritan & Company, The Lexington), Karen Akunowicz (Bar Volpe, Fox & The Knife), and Kate and Trevor Smith (Thistle & Leek). You can do fun things like heading to Eagle’s Nest Point for a night of slurping oysters on Duxbury Bay with Kate and Trevor from Thistle & Leek and even wade into the waters at low tide to get a look at the famed oyster beds up close. Or you could take a ride out to the three-centuries-old pastoral grounds of Powisset Farm in Dover to take a stroll through the hay fields and oak forest with farmers Tim Laird and Jessica Rice and then dine on super-fresh farm-grown ingredients in dishes from Will Gilson.

The OitF dining room is rebuilt every morning and disappears at night — reserve a spot ASAP from the links in the list for a space at their signature single long table to share conversation and connection with fellow foodies as tickets are selling fast. Events start between 3:00 and 4:00pm and tickets are $385 per person (before tax). Follow Outstanding in the Field on Instagram for amazing photos and videos from experiences around the world, and keep an eye out for local long tables appearing this summer!
