Special Smart Grill BBQ

Those smarties over at Harvard have done it again, bringing innovation to one of the most unlikely places: BBQ. On Friday, June 29th, Cambridge-based tech company Desora is launching their smart grill in partnership with Kamado Joe, and their friends at Parsnip. KJ’s Chief Culinary Officer, chef Eric Gephart, will be joining chef Jason Tom of Night Market for an interactive afternoon/evening of roasting, smoking and grilling over 40 menu items from tuna tataki to brisket. The pitmastering will all take place on Parsnip’s patio from 4:00pm through 8:00pm, and it’ll be free to all (yes, free! — as long as you’re a BBQ lover).

Whatever goes on the grill depends on the availability at the butcher & fishmonger, but word is items like elk, frog legs, shrimp, bone marrow encrusted reverse seared tri-tip, tomahawks, whole fish and Scottish salmon could show up. The chefs will even be cooking up some non-meat eats (gasp!) like goose fat garlic cast iron potatoes, smoked key lime pie and a Nicaraguan bread pudding with bourbon sauce. If all that eating makes you thirsty, there’ll be a cash bar for drinks as well. Call 617.714.3206 for additional info or just swing by Winthrop Street to get your weekend started right.
