Boston’s first sake bar, The Koji Club, is gearing up to celebrate the end of the sake brewing season with its second annual Cherry Blossom + Namazake event. Set for Saturday, April 8th, from 7:00-10:00pm, the Brighton spot invites sake enthusiasts to join them for an evening of celebration, complete with a tasting of eight sakes from four breweries.

Led by Advanced Sake Professional Alyssa Mikiko DiPasquale, The Koji Club has become a staple in Boston’s culinary scene for its focus on Japanese sake and the rich culture surrounding it. The Cherry Blossom + Namazake season is particularly special as it signals the end of sake brewing season, which is marked by the blooming of cherry blossoms. A ticket ($149 each) grants you entry to the event and the opportunity to taste rare unpasteurized sake known as namazake. This type of sake is released only once a year and is bright, bold, and borderline effervescent. The tasting will include a namazake side-by-side with its pasteurized twin, providing a unique opportunity to compare and contrast the flavors.

To accompany the sake tastings, Portland’s Mr. Tuna will be on hand making sushi hand rolls to order, and Ivory Pearl will be shucking oysters for the evening. Guests are even encouraged to wear pink to celebrate the special occasion.

As one of a handful of female sake professionals in the U.S., Alyssa DiPasquale has made it her mission to share her unbridled enthusiasm for sake with Boston and beyond. With events like the Cherry Blossom + Namazake season celebration, The Koji Club is sure to continue educating and delighting sake lovers for years to come. Snack your ticket on Tock.
