Did you know that Boston’s Time Out Market has siblings scattered around the world? It’s true, and you can get a taste of the Cape Town, South Africa market on Tuesday, August 20th when chef John van Zyl of The Melting Pot Seafood comes to town for Chefs On Tour to cook with Boston’s chef Tim Cushman (o ya, Hojoko, Bianca, Mrs. Clucks Deluxe).
The two culinarians will be collaborating on a fun 8-course meal from 7:00 to 10:00pm, which will include a little something from both continents like Cape Malay Fish Taco Curry Emulsion, with Pickled Red Onion; Scallop Shinjo Dumpling Black Truffle with Herbal Dashi Broth; ‘Pap en Vleis’ Braised Short Rib with Creamed Polenta and Chakalaka; and Surf & Turf Grilled Lobster Tail & A5 Wagyu Striploin with Saffron Bisque Sabayon, Onion Soubise and Confit Potato.
Grab tickets here for $150 per person (plus a small admin fee), which includes a wine pairing. Everyone will be seated at one of the market’s large communal tables in front of the open kitchen, so you’ll get to see all the action and maybe make a few new friends, too.
