From now until the new year, whether you’re looking for a fancy holiday retreat or just a respite from the cold and the chaos of the bustling Back Bay in December, the Mandarin Oriental’s Holiday Champagne Afternoon Tea is just what the doctor ordered. With a crackling fireplace and cozy holiday decorations, the Mandarin’s lobby is the perfect place to warm up with a cup of house-blended tea or toast the season with a glass of bubbly. Tea is served between 2:00 and 5:00pm Wednesday through Sunday, accompanied by warm orange poppy scones, finger sandwiches, and delightful delectables from Pastry Chef Robert Differ. And don’t worry about the young ‘uns: there’s a special children’s menu just for them with sugar cookies, hot cocoa and candy cane cupcakes. The whole holiday tea shebang is $78 per person ($42 for children) and reservations are recommended; click here for more info and a look at all the teatime offerings.
