On Wednesday, December 5th, chef Jeremy Sewall (Island Creek Oyster Bar, Row 34) is hosting an anniversary gala at The Hotel Commonwealth, commemorating three decades of the Certificate Program in Culinary Arts through Boston University’s Programs in Food & Wine. The celebratory evening will honor Jacques Pépin, who was instrumental in founding the program back in 1989, and will include a reception, sit-down dinner and live auction.

A VIP reception begins at 6:00pm (general admission folks can flock in at 6:45pm) with a walk-around style tasting of signature cocktails, select wines and hors d’oeuvres from a slew of Boston chefs, including Chris Douglass (Ashmont Grill, Tavolo), Jamie Bissonnette (Toro, Little Donkey, Coppa), Nicki Hobson (Island Creek Oyster Bar), Carolyn Johnson (80 Thoreau, Mooncusser Fish House), Colin Lynch (Bar Mezzana), Kevin O’Donnell & Michael Lombardi (SRV), David Punch (Sycamore) and Ming Tsai (Blue Dragon).

Following the reception, take your seat at the table at 7:15pm for a four-course menu prepared by Renee Erickson (Bateau, The Walrus and the Carpenter),  Stephanie Izard (Girl & the Goat, Little Goat), Jeremy Sewall (Island Creek Oyster Bar, Row 34) and Justin Walker & Danielle Johnson Walker (Walkers Maine). Get your paddles ready for a live auction full of fun culinary experiences that’ll take place while you eat. Pastry chefs like Maura Kilpatrick (Sofra) wrap up the evening around 9:30pm with a selection of desserts and digestifs.

Keep your eyes out for special guests making an appearance. You’ll see Jody Adams (Trade), Jasper White (Summer Shack), Ana Sortun (Oleana, Sofra) and Michael Schlow (Tico, Alta Strada). General admission tickets are $500, while VIP tickets are $750 ($250 of which is tax deductible) — all funds raised will go to support the Jacques Pépin Legacy Fund and Boston University’s Food & Wine 30th Anniversary Fund.
