Get to know the Southern branch of the worldwide whiskey-making family with a cocktail demo and virtual excursion to Uncle Nearest’s Tennessee tasting room on Thursday, October 8th. Your friends at The Smoke Shop and author/beverage guru Kitty Amann will facilitate the live tasting session and online chat with Master Blender Victoria Eady Butler who is the great-great-granddaughter of Nearest Green, the first African-American master distiller on record.
Butler enjoyed a lengthy career as an Analytical Manager with the Regional Organized Crime Information Center in Nashville before joining the team at Uncle Nearest’s to carry on her familial legacy. A mother, grandmother and Tennessee native, she currently oversees the blending process of the 1884 Small Batch Whiskey as well as the selection of all 1820 Single Barrels. She’s also a member of the executive team and oversees the Nearest Green Foundation, a non-profit that provides scholarships to Nearest Green’s descendants.
Your $25 ticket, available through The Smoke Shop website, includes a cocktail-making kit, whiskey samples and the link to the 7:00pm Zoom. Reserve your spot online here – be sure to select your pick-up date and location – and get ready for some quality time with Uncle Nearest.
