Island Creek Oyster Festival

The beloved oyster gets its day in the sun at the fifth annual Island Creek Oyster Festival, scheduled for Saturday, September 11th. This year’s festival, which runs from 3:00 to 11:00pm at Duxbury Beach, continues the tradition of food, beer and sustainable fun with as many as 30,000 locally produced oysters being shucked for your gastronomic delight. In addition, more than twenty of Boston’s brightest culinary stars will be making the trip to serve artfully plated small bites made from the locally grown ingredients. Look for familiar faces like Jody Adams, Ming Tsai, Chris Parsons, Jeremy Sewall, Jasper White, Louis DiBiccari, Mary Dumont, Tony Maws, Eric Brennan, Chris Robins, Barry Maiden, Michael Scelfo, Stephen Oxaal and Will Gilson. Harpoon will be pouring the beer and local bands will be providing the tunes. They’re even brining the kids’ tent back this year where from 3:00 to 6:00pm the young’uns can keep themselves entertained with an interactive tide pool. Tickets to the event cost $50 for general admission ($150 for VIP treatment) with additional $5 tickets that can be redeemed for one glass of wine, one beer or six oysters – proceeds benefit the Island Creek Oyster Foundation. Reserve your tickets well in advance – visit the event website or call 781.934.2028 to get tickets and all the details.
