16th Annual Beyond Shelter Event to Benefit the Homeless

Head to the Avalon Ballroom at 15 Lansdowne St. on Wednesday, April 23rd for this year’s Beyond Shelter Event to Benefit the Homeless. More than 1200 of Boston’s dignitaries, local celebrities, sports figures, and area residents will be out on the town for the event, which is co-hosted by Mayor Thomas M. Menino, the Boston Public Health Commission and Lend Lease REI Housing & Community Investing. Dance to the big band sounds of Kendrick Oliver & The New Life Jazz Orchestra and nibble on delicious fare served by the chefs from twenty-eight of Boston’s award-winning restaurants including Hamersley’s Bistro, Flour Bakery & Café, Clio, Lucky’s, Aquitaine, Armani Café, Icarus, Iggy’s Bread, Truc, Sonsie, Le Soir and Dakota’s. Tickets cost $50 per person ~ or $20 just for music after 8:00pm and can be reserved by calling 617.534.2526. Proceeds from the evening (more than $150,000) support Friends of Boston’s Homeless, a non-profit organization that develops and funds innovative, solution-oriented programs to help the homeless move beyond shelter and back into the community as independent citizens.
