As Massachusetts continues to reemerge from the shutdown, restaurants are getting their al fresco areas up and running for dine-in patrons. Read on for a curated list of some of the best decks, patios, rooftops and sidewalk spots where you can enjoy a good meal while maintaining your social distance from fellow diners. You can sort by neighborhood if you’re looking for something nearby or just scroll to see if your regular hang is on the list — we’ll be adding restaurants as they open for on-site dining so stay tuned and definitely check back for updates.
Word to the wise: we’ll be adjusting the info below as the situation continues to evolve and restaurants figure out what works for them (and you!) so it’s still probably your best bet to give the restaurant a ring to make sure they can accommodate you.
Chef-owner Frank McClelland's eponymous Beverly restaurant, FRANK, brings its farm-to-table sensibilities right out onto its covered, brick-lined patio. Snap up one of the tables (rain or shine) to have your fill of his delicious, award-winning fare out of doors.
Stroll down to the South End to grab a bite to eat on Gaslight’s plant-lined, bricked patio. At brunch you can catch some sun or cool off in the shade under big umbrellas. During dinner hours they’ll fire up the heat lamps to chase away the chill, so patio season can continue even after the weather starts to cool.

Great Road Kitchen brings all the comforts of home right out on to their outdoor dining area: there’s plenty of food and drink, a fully-stocked bar, a big screen TV and even a roaring fire for those chilly nights in May and September (or even October).
You can get all you go-to Italian favorites out on Grotto's sidewalk patio. Chef Scott Herritt's menu includes all the classics you've been craving so book a table and book it to Beacon Hill and pretend you're eating on a piazza in Bologna or Rome

The Cambridge location of Gustazo, just outside Porter Square, has added a brand new patio on the back of the building. Find your way to this hidden, plant-lined oasis to enjoy authentic Cuban fare at safely spaced tables out in the open air.
You can have a little taste of Havana out on the open and airy patio at Gustazo's Waltham location. With its umbrella-capped tables and bubbling fountain, the patio is open for both lunch and dinner which makes it an idyllic spot for a bite to eat pretty much any time of day.

Overlooking the plaza at the Charles Hotel, the spacious, pooch-friendly outdoor dining area at Henrietta’s Table is just removed enough from bustling Harvard Square to be a quiet, relaxing spot to enjoy farm fresh honest-to-goodness home cooking.

Take a trip beyond the city limits for al fresco Italian on Il Casale’s eight-table patio. Floral installments add a splash of color to the converted firehouse’s brick and glass façade.
