Eric McLaughlin

Chef at Brasserie 28

Chef Eric McLaughlin at Brasserie 28

Haverhill native Eric McLaughlin always had a passion for cooking. At a young age when most boys his age were outside playing after school he was in the kitchen. With the fridge and the stove to himself he would experiment like a mad scientist finding great pleasure in exciting his palate and his mind. Seeing this, his parents enrolled him in the Culinary Arts Program at Whittier Vocational Technical High School, where his chefs and teachers would teach him the essential knowledge need to guide him on his culinary path.

McLaughlin landed his first cooking job at the age of 16 at Sylvan Street Grille in Salisbury, Mass. The fast pace turn and burn line taught him the mental toughness needed to work under pressure and he soon caught the eyes of his chef and the owner, who offered him the chance to join the team at their new fine dining restaurant Sidney and Hampton in Rowley, Mass.

Finding the new style invigorating, McLaughlin was soon put in charge of creating seasonally-inspired menus and helping with day-to-day operations of the restaurant.

He eventually made his way to Andover, Mass., where he met chefs Matt Morello and Michael Sherman. The three clicked right from the start all sharing the same passion for fresh, brasserie-inspired food. Together in the kitchen at brasserie 28, the three chefs all push each other to strive for more day after day to never settle for average.
