National Margarita Day

Restaurants in Boston and beyond are putting a twist on everyone’s favorite tequila-based beverage in honor of National Margarita Day which, in case you didn’t know, is Sunday, February 22nd.

In Burlington, Chopps American Bar and Grill is serving up Winter Thyme Margaritas made with lemonade and fresh thyme, perfect for pairing with their fun, contemporary American menu.

The South of the Border specialty gets a Provencal twist at Bistro du Midi. For his Sirocco, sommelier Todd Lipman starts with bell, poblano, and habañero peppers, macerated in blanco tequila. This house-infused pepper tequila is combined with Liquor 43, Triple Sec, lime juice, and simple syrup and served on the rocks and garnished with grilled pepperoncini to create a perfect drink-with-a-kick.

Back in the Back Bay Precinct is serving a fresh citrus agave margarita (pictured above) made with sage and offering bar guests $1 oysters to boot.

In the Hub, Boston Chops, the Chris Coombs’ South End steakhouse, is celebrating the holiday with the Ignition made with tequila, Aperol and jalapeno syrup.

Across the river in Cambridge, Dante de Magistris will transport you to Italy with their Amalfi margarita made with grapefruit, lime and a smoked sea salt rim.
