The upside of weeks of record-breaking heat? End-of-the-summer treats are turning up a little early – at farmer’s markets and on menus like 80 Thoreau’s farm-to-table Corn & Tomato Festival Menu. Available from August 2nd through August 18th, the four-course menu ($39 per person, not including tax or gratuity) incorporates the season’s bounty – fresh from Verrill, Brigham’s, Yarrow Stalk and Blue Heron Farms – into dishes like a griddled johnnycake with lobster, tomatoes and tarragon; and pan-roasted local hake with charred cherry tomatoes, clams and corn puree. Chef Carolyn Johnson is keeping the rest of her menu under wraps for the moment – you’ll just have to make a reservation to see what she cooks up. Call 978.318.0008.
