Chef Douglass Williams brings an extra bit Italian flair to the South End dining scene with MIDA, now open on Tremont Street. The inaugural restaurant from the chef-owner, MIDA features a menu inspired by spicy, charred, crunchy and crispy culinary experiences (around the world and locally in kitchens like Coppa and Radius). Piccoli, or starters, include crudos, lardos and arancini while family-style plates cover grilled sirloin, Spanish octopus and duck, highlighting the communal aspect of a traditional Italian meal. On the beverage side, general manager Seth Gerber has curated a by-the-glass and bottle wine list with a focus on northern Italian and French vintages. Bottle and tap beers represent both Italy and New England while the cocktail menu interprets Italian classics like the Negroni and the Spagliato.
