Little Donkey Lands in Central

Something to bray about—award-winning chefs Jamie Bissonnette and Ken Oringer have opened their newest restaurant, Little Donkey, in Cambridge’s Central Square. The 90-seat Mass Ave space makes a trio of Boston restaurants for the pair, including Toro and Coppa, and features a global tapas tilt inspired by the chefs’ world travels. The menu showcases rotating charcuterie (like BLT lettuce wraps), shareable hors d’oeuvres (like pickle brine fried chicken sandwiches), pasta & grains (like matzo ball ramen), vegetables & salads (like red lentil kale dhal) and meat & fish (like lobster fra diavolo and Texas-smoked short rib). The restaurant also features an open kitchen and a marble raw bar of local fresh catches and more. Lead bartender Vikram Hedge (formerly of Sarma and Island Creek Oyster Bar) heads up the bar program, offering cocktails, wine and beer. A patio space will open later this summer. The restaurant is currently open for dinner – 5:00pm to 12:30am Sunday through Wednesday and until 1:30am Thursday through Saturday – and breakfast and lunch hours are coming soon.
