Ciao, Il Molo

The North End is gearing up to welcome Il Molo, a new seafood restaurant from father-son duo Donato Frattaroli and Donato Frattaroli, Jr. The neighborhood spot, whose name translates to The Pier, will focus on fresh preparations of sea fare from culinary director Pino Maffeo who has cooked locally in the kitchens of Sage, Restaurant L and most recently, Lucia in Winchester. Named one of Food & Wine‘s Best New Chefs in 2006, Maffeo will round out his menu with homemade pastas and grilled meats, all of which will be complemented by a full bar program.

Il Molo, located in the cozy lower level space at the corner of Commercial Street and Murphy Court, is expected to open its doors in early July. Diners will be able to choose from three distinct areas: the bar by the entrance; the main dining room off to the side; and a back room that can be cordoned off for private functions. White granite bar tops, marble tables and tiles in ocean-inspired hues combine for a sophisticated, yet chill space where diners, whichever perch they choose, will feel at home any night of the week whatever the occasion.

Keep an eye out for opening updates and get ready to swing by for serious seafood.
