Or at least until the end of the local season when the Federation of Massachusetts Farmers Markets wraps up its Strawberry Dessert Festival. Every year since 2008, Mass Farmers Markets has been providing a little extra incentive to eat sweet with their month-long fundraiser, which runs through July 7th. Participating restaurants are invited to create a strawberry-centric dessert (or cocktail or savory, if that’s more their style) and donate a portion of the proceeds to support local farmers markets. There are some exciting options this year from the participants like Bondir Cambridge, Bondir Concord, Harvest, Lineage, The Merchant, Oleana, Ribelle and Tomasso Trattoria, among others. Bondir Cambridge, for example, has a strawberry semifreddo with herbs and candied flowers while The Merchant is serving up a strawberry cobbler with strawberry-calaminth ice cream. And Harvest has devised a creation called Chamomile and Strawberries with strawberry Cava sorbet, chamomile financier, fresh strawberries and chamomile cream.
