Mixing the Market into a Glass

On Saturday, March 15th, the Boston cocktail scene gets a farm fresh makeover when the W Hotel hosts Mass Farmers Markets and Edible Boston for the inaugural Farm to Glass Mixology Throwdown. Ten of the top bartenders in town will be using the best of local farm ingredients to create cocktails for attendees to taste. Participating this year are Jon Winegar-Mendez of TRADE, Emily Jamison of Area Four, Scott Shoer of Sycamore, Vikram Hegde of Sarma, Bill Earle of Post 390, Young Won of Rialto and Brett Henderson of Ceia Kitchen + Bar. Guests will get to cast their votes for their favorites and the top three mixologists will move on to a head-to-head competition before one of them is crowned the Throwdown Champ. To accompany all that shaking and stirring, there’ll be tunes from DJ Deja as well as small bites. To up the fun quotient even further – three lucky guests will get to play barback in the afternoon’s final face-off. Standard variety tickets are $50 while VIP tickets (which include early entry, a champagne toast with the mixologists and more) are $100. All funds raised will help continue the work of Mass Farmers Markets, a charitable non-profit that helps sustain farmer’s markets in Boston. The party starts at 1:00 and runs until 3:30pm.
