Drink Like a Royal

If you are one of the many stateside-anglophiles who’s eagerly awaiting the royal nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton, then you know that Friday, April 29th will be a day for celebrating, regardless of what side of the pond you’re on. Sure you could raise a glass of bubbly in their honor, but that’s a little expected, no? In an effort to mix up your good time, the folks at Tamo Bar at the Seaport Hotel have concocted a few special cocktails fit for a soon-to-be-queen. In addition to that British classic the Pimms cup, and a Pimms Royal (its got that splash of champagne we were talking about earlier), bartender Dana Seabury will also be shaking up her original Royal Ring Martini. Composed of sapphires and rubies of the gin and vodka varieties, this bejeweled beverage has Kate’s storied engagement ring as its inspiration. Seabury notes, “As it has become symbolic of the occasion, I chose the ingredients of our Royal Ring Martini to create a concoction that is both beautiful in color, like the ring, and also delicious, as we are all hoping the entire day will be.” She was even kind enough to include the recipe so that you can make the drink for yourself at home. But really, a queen never lifts a finger, so best to leave all the hard work to the professionals – it’s the royal thing to do. Cheers!

Royal Ring Martini
1 1/2 oz Bombay Sapphire
1 oz Absolut Ruby Red
1/2 oz Blue Curacao
