One of the biggest names in local oysters celebrates its resident bivalve at the Wellfleet OysterFest. For the 16th year, the town of Wellfleet opens its streets for a two-day family festival highlighting shellfish and shuckers. On Saturday, October 15th and Sunday, October 16th, oyster-lovers can stroll Main Street and take in the sights, sounds and tastes of the festival—restaurants will be serving up raw bar offerings, chowders, clams and more for enjoying a la carte with New England-made beers and wines. Visitors can peruse the wares from local artisans and artists, groove to live music and improve their oyster knowledge with seminars, cooking demos and a competitive shuck-off. The bivalve bash runs from 10:00am to 5:00pm each weekend day and admission tickets are $10 each online here. Proceeds support Wellfleet SPAT (Shellfish Promotion and Tasting, Inc.) and their efforts at sustaining the local shellfishing and aquaculture industries with scholarships, grants and initiatives.
