National Tequila Day

Celebrate Mexico’s most beloved boozy export on Monday, July 24th. Spots like Tico and la Casa de Pedro in the Seaport are going all out with day-long parties but there are tequila-slinging spots all over town (and out of town, even), mixing up margaritas and more so you can raise a glass (or many glasses) in honor of National Tequila Day.

Area Four Boston
Tequila’s not just for making margaritas. Just ask Tainah Soares, Area Four Bar Manager, who creates a perfectly well-rounded tequila cocktail that’s soft on the palate but still has an herbaceous kick. Made with the Moroccan mint tea, genepy, lime and egg white, the Fort Que L’Amour can be the ideal cocktail to thoroughly satisfy that tequila craving.

Davio’s Boston
Davio’s Boston gives their margarita an extra dose of seasonality just by adding berries. Order up the Blackberry Margarita ($14) and enjoy the potent blend of Don Julio Blanco, St. Germain, fresh blackberries, rosemary simple syrup topped with a splash of soda.

Eastern Standard
Its name may come from the Sesame Street theme song, but Eastern Standard’s Sunny Days is not for kids. This drink toes the line of sweet and savory with sweet and vegetal notes coming both from the pea greens and cucumber in this drink. Muddled cucumber, salt, lime juice and egg whites complete the drink that is served strained into a chilled lowball.

Agave spirits take center stage at The Hawthorne, as the legendary craft cocktail bar is stocked with 25 varieties of tequila and 28 types of mezcal. But don’t be scared – expert bartenders will help you find the perfect cocktail. Maybe it’s the Adelita made with Leguas Reposado Tequila, Cocchi Americano, Dolin dry vermouth and Crème de Violett, or possibly the Spitfire made with Cabeza Blanco Tequila, fresh lime and graprefruit juice, cinnamon syrup and Pequin chile-infused Aperol.
